Lifeless, a blue sea

The sun at apogee.
Lifeless, a blue sea.
In the shade of the rock
Sea shells search
Each for their love

Commentary

At noon in early spring. The blue, windless sea looks still and lifeless. On the rocks by the quiet sea in the shade are small clams, sea shells. If we look carefully we can see them move to each other, each one searching for their mate.

Background

Bokusui’s first romance was no more than an experiment in love. Unknown to Bokusei, Soneko was already married with two children. The further Soneko distanced herself from the pure-hearted Bokusui the more he is troubled. As the sea creatures search for their love in the shade of the rocks so searches Bokusui.
